Welcome to my website, which contains information about some of my lighting design work and my research. The first part of my professional career was as a theatre lighting technician and designer, before I started teaching on the Lighting Design degree programme at Rose Bruford College. I went on to become Head of the School of Design, Management and Technical Arts, responsible for ten degree programmes across the various aspects of theatre and live performance production. I am now Digital Research and Innovation Fellow, working on projects to continue the development the College’s curriculum and research, often in partnership with others in academia and industry.

My research interests include the performative nature of stage lighting, digital scenography and digital performance, the history of theatre lighting, and the roles and status of the various personnel involved in theatre-making. I am an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Performance Arts & Digital Media, and a co-convenor of the IFTR Scenography Working Group. You can find more information about my research on my Academia.edu page, as well as here.

I have extensive experience as a consultant and external examiner in the areas of design and technical theatre, working for universities and higher education institutions including Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Wimbledon College of Art, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Leeds University, Edgehill University, LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore, and the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.
