The following descriptions of the contents of the threads used in Passages may be useful when viewing the video of the thread display or the composite view of the performance.

The section numbers refer to the sections or 'scenes' of the performance.

1. General Cover

Open-white general lighting, divided into four stage areas and lit from four sides.

2. Top Spots

Tightly focussed light from directly overhead, on different parts of the stage.

3. Foots and Legs

Lights positioned at floor level, uplighting actors ('footlights' or 'foots') or lighting legs of actors and furniture ('legs').

4. Environment

Lighting outside the main stage space (auditorium, studio walls, studio roof space).

Light suggesting the Angel of History.

6. Lavender Corridor

A lavender coloured strip of light across the stage.

A warm wash of light from the front.

A blue coloured strip of light across the stage.

9. Peach Back

A peach coloured backlight across the whole stage.

10. Orange Corridor and Beam

An orange coloured strip of light across the stage, and an orange narrow beam or 'shard' of light centre stage.

Cool blue washes of light across the stage from the front and from behind.
